In your own words, what are the different types of speech according to purpose and delivery? There are three types of speeches according to purpose, they may be: informative, persuasive, or entertainment speech. The first type which is the informative speech, is mainly conducted to to disseminate information to an audience. An example of this is a lecture of a professor, this type of speech is also known as "expository." The second type is the persuasive speech, which is performed with the purpose of convincing an audience to what the speaker is saying. Some examples of people who give persuasive speeches are politicians and litigating lawyers. How can you improve your communication with your classmates, family members, teachers, etc. using verbal and non-verbal communication? First and foremost, to become a good communicator, I first have to become a good listener because once I improve my listening skills, I will be able to give appropriate responses to the messages that people will give me; which leads to the first step in being a better communicator: appropriateness. I always have to be appropriate because it will enable me to better understand the nature or context of someone's message. Next I ought to be concise with my words. This will reduce the ambiguity of the messages that I will be delivering. Next, I should always have clarity.
